Silicone electronic potting glue has excellent dielectric properties and high and low temperature performance, and is widely used in the potting and pouring of electronic products such as power supplies, transformers, ignition coils, triggers, etc. High-quality silicone electronic potting glue will not shrink, deform, or crack during long-term operation.


Introduction to the dielectric constant of silicone potting glue
The dielectric constant of silicone potting glue can be considered as a capacitor when used to pot power supply. The dielectric constant of general potting glue is 3.0-3.3 (1MHz). In simple terms, before you pot, there is air between the two circuits, so the dielectric constant is approximately equal to the dielectric constant of air (such as 1.0). After potting, it is the dielectric constant of the potting glue (such as 3.0).
Assuming that the air capacitance between the two circuits before potting is 0.1pF, the capacitance of the potting glue (dielectric constant 3.0) of the two circuits after potting is 0.3pF.
Standards for dielectric and flame retardant constants of silicone potting glue
The flame retardant level of the addition type can reach UL 94V-0, and the flame retardant level of the condensation type is UL 94V-1, which fully complies with the requirements of the EU ROHS directive. Appendix: UL flame retardant grade standard. The flame retardant grade generally decreases from V-0, V-1, V-2 to HB.
The UL94 rating for flammability is the most widely used standard for the flammability of plastic materials. It is used to evaluate the ability of a material to extinguish after being ignited. There are many ways to judge based on the burning speed, burning time, drip resistance, and whether the dripping beads burn. Each material tested can get many values based on color or thickness. When selecting a material for a product, its UL rating should meet the thickness requirements of the wall portion of the plastic part.
V-0: After two 10-second burning tests on the sample, the flame goes out within 30 seconds, and no burning material can fall.
V-1: After two 10-second burning tests on the sample, the flame goes out within 60 seconds, and no burning material can fall.
V-2: After two 10-second burning tests on the sample, the flame goes out within 60 seconds, and burning materials can fall.
HB: The lowest flame retardant rating in the UL94 standard. For samples with a thickness of 3 to 13 mm, the burning speed is required to be less than 40 mm per minute; for samples with a thickness of less than 3 mm, the burning speed is less than 70 mm per minute; or it goes out before the 100 mm mark.
It can be used stably for a long time in the range of -50℃ to 250℃, and is suitable for potting protection of module power supplies and circuit boards with high temperature resistance requirements. For example, only V-0 potting glue can be used in HID lamp power potting, LED module potting, LED waterproof power potting, electronic module power potting, lightning protection module electronic potting, negative ion generator potting, ballast electronic potting, automotive ignition system module power potting, etc.
