Which silicone oil product do you recommend for car tire shining?
The most commonly used and stable options for car tire shining are polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and its modified silicone formulations. They are divided into two categories:
  • Raw PDMS for DIY (cost-effective, long-lasting)
  • Ready-to-use silicone-based tire dressings (convenient, balanced performance)

1. Raw PDMS for DIY (for self-formulation or bulk use)

Core material: Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)
  • Recommended viscosity: 350–1000 cSt
350 cSt: most versatile, easy to apply, natural gloss, non-greasy.
1000 cSt: deeper gloss, longer durability.
  • Recommended brands/models:
    QL SILICONE: QL-200 DM350 cSt / 1000 cSt
  • Advantages: low cost, long-lasting (1–3 months), dust-resistant, waterproof, retards rubber aging.

2. Modified silicones (premium performance)

  • Methylphenyl silicone: better gloss, heat & UV resistance.
  • Amino silicone: stronger adhesion, darker finish.
  • Fluorinated silicone: super hydrophobic, long-lasting up to 3 months.

3. Ready-to-use silicone-based tire dressings

  • Turtle Wax Black Crystal Tire Shine
  • Blue Dolphin Silicone Resin Tire Coating
  • Carmate Long-Lasting Tire Dressing
  • Weisley Foam Tire Shine

Key suggestions

  • Use 350–1000 cSt PDMS for tire shining.
  • Apply only on clean, dry tires; allow to fully cure before driving.
  • Avoid cheap products with strong petroleum solvents, which may accelerate rubber cracking.
