What is amino silicone oil?
Aminoalkyl polysiloxane is referred to as aminosilicone or amino silicone oil. As a kind of organic silicone oil, it can interact with the hydroxyl and carboxyl groups of fibers due to the polarity of amino groups. The resulting orientation and adsorption are very strong, which reduces the static friction coefficient between fibers. It can make the fibers slide with very little force and feel very soft. It can also form a film on the surface of the fabric, thus giving the fabric good elasticity. Amino silicone oil has many excellent properties such as softness, hydrophobicity, defoaming, lubricity, and glazing. In addition, this type of material is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and inexpensive. It has been widely used in many fields of the textile industry. The most important use is as a softener for various fibers, yarns, and fabrics. It is called the king of softeners.
What are the types of amino silicone oil?
Amino silicone oil can be regarded as a product in which some methyl groups in dimethyl silicone oil are replaced by aminoalkyl groups. According to the amino group classification, there are primary amino groups (NH2, NHCH2CH2NH2, NHC2H4NHC2H4NH2 and OC6H4NH2, etc.), secondary amino groups, tertiary amino groups, aromatic amino groups, quaternary ammonium salts and structural silicone oils with both primary and secondary amino groups. According to the position of the amino group in the silicone oil molecule, amino silicone oils can be divided into the following 5 types: single-end type, double-end type, side group type, copolymer type, and mixed type. Different amino groups and their positions give silicone oils different properties. According to the end group classification, there are methyl, methoxy and hydroxyl amino silicone oils.
