- Core functions: Served as internal and external mold release agent (can be used alone or compounded with white oil/emulsifier to make emulsified mold release agent), it provides strong mold release capacity to prevent products from sticking to molds, lacking material and deforming, and improves the finish of molds; it also enhances the surface slip property of rubber and plastic products, and is partially used for rubber and plastic modification to improve the weather resistance of products.
- Practical operation points: The pure product can be directly applied (suitable for mold release of precision small parts), or diluted with xylene/white oil and then sprayed (the dilution ratio is adjusted as required, generally 1:5~1:20), and it can also be emulsified to make water-based mold release agent (suitable for production lines with high environmental protection requirements).
II. Daily Chemical and Cosmetics Industry (the core civil scenario)
- Application scenarios: High-end cream/hand cream/body lotion (oil phase component); hair conditioner/hair mask/hair care essential oil (core smoothing component); color cosmetics such as lipstick/eye shadow/mascara (oil phase base material); waterproof liquid foundation/mascara/sunscreen (waterproof film-forming component).
- Core functions: Forming a hydrophobic dense protective film on the skin/hair surface, achieving long-acting moisturization and anti-chapping, improving hair smoothness and antistatic property to avoid dryness and frizzy; improving the spreadability, water resistance and skin feel of color cosmetics to achieve long-acting makeup holding; non-irritating, suitable for sensitive skin products.
- Practical operation points: Directly add to the oil phase of daily chemical products with an addition amount of generally 0.5%~5%, adjusted according to the skin feel/usage feeling of products, without additional dilution.
III. Mechanical Lubrication and Protection
- Application scenarios: Long-acting lubrication of micro bearings/gears in clocks/cameras/printers/precision instruments; high-temperature lubrication of door hinges/slide rails/lead screws in ovens/roasters/plastic machines; lubrication of plastic gears/rubber seals/silicone tubes; short-term/medium-term rust and corrosion prevention of small metal parts.
- Core functions: Providing boundary lubrication to reduce wear of precision components, with resistance to high and low temperatures and no easy loss (no volatilization at high temperature, no solidification at low temperature); chemical inertness without corroding metal/plastic/rubber to avoid aging and deformation of components; forming an oil film to isolate water vapor and achieve short-term rust prevention.
- Practical operation points: Apply the pure product directly (a small amount is sufficient to avoid excessive dust accumulation); it can be compounded with fumed silica to make silicone grease (improving the consistency and temperature resistance of lubricating grease, suitable for light load scenarios under heavy load).
IV. Electronic and Electrical Industry
- Application scenarios: Insulation and moisture proof of electronic components such as capacitors/resistors/transformers/inductors; sealing protection of switches/contactors/terminals; auxiliary mold release for potting of LED lamps (compounded with epoxy resin); anti-fog/dust proof of lenses of precision electronic instruments.
- Core functions: High dielectric strength (≥20kV/mm) to achieve electrical insulation and prevent short circuit; forming an oil film to isolate water vapor and dust, improving the weather resistance of electronic equipment; good compatibility with epoxy resin, assisting mold release and improving the insulation of potted parts at the same time.
- Practical operation points: Apply/drop a small amount of pure product, avoiding excessive penetration into the core part of electronic chips; only suitable for medium and low voltage electronic and electrical equipment (special insulating silicone oil is required for high voltage equipment).
V. Coatings and Inks Industry
- Application scenarios: Oil-based wood paint/furniture paint/industrial paint (surface slip agent); oil-based inks for gravure/flexographic printing (slip and anti-blocking agent); powder coatings (anti-blocking agent); plastic paint (improving surface slip property).
- Core functions: Improving the surface slip property, scratch resistance and wear resistance of paint film/ink layer; preventing blocking of paint film during stacking (especially in high temperature and high humidity environment); improving the gloss and leveling property of paint film and avoiding pinholes (high-viscosity silicone oil has better dispersibility and is not easy to float oil).
- Practical operation points: Generally added after being compounded into silicone oil additive (avoid direct addition leading to poor dispersion) with an addition amount of 0.1%~1%, requiring high-speed dispersion (1000~3000r/min) to prevent oil floating and pinholes.
VI. Textile and Leather Industry
- Application scenarios: Soft and slip finishing of chemical fiber fabrics such as polyester/nylon/polypropylene; coating and hand feel finishing of artificial leather/PU leather/genuine leather; auxiliary waterproof finishing of waterproof textile fabrics (compounded with water repellent).
- Core functions: Forming an oil film on the surface of fibers/leather to improve the softness, slip property and antistatic property of fabrics, reducing adhesion between fabrics; improving the hand feel, wear resistance and water resistance of leather, and enhancing the texture of leather products.
- Practical operation points: Can be emulsified to make water-based silicone oil finishing agent (suitable for environmental protection textile production lines), or directly added to leather oil-based coating agent, with the addition amount adjusted as required (generally 0.3%~3%).
VII. General Mold Release and Civil Auxiliary Scenarios
- Industrial general mold release: Mold release of concrete/gypsum products (emulsified to make water-based mold release agent to avoid corrosion of steel/wood molds and improve the finish of products); molding and mold release of candles/soaps/resin crafts (suitable for both civil and industrial use, easy mold release without affecting the appearance of products).
- Food-grade special use: Mold release of food machinery/baking molds (such as molds for bread/pastry/candy/chocolate), in line with GB 4806.10-2016 food contact standards, odorless, no residue and easy to clean.
- Other auxiliary uses: Compounded with wax to make metal/stone polishing agent (improving polishing effect and gloss); compounded into high-viscosity defoamer (suitable for long-acting defoaming of high-viscosity systems such as coatings/adhesives/printing and dyeing, solving the problem of short defoaming acting time of low-viscosity silicone oil); maintenance of molds after cleaning (coating to form an oil film to prevent mold rust and dust adhesion).
Core Summary
The core application logic of dimethyl silicone oil with a viscosity of 30,000~100,000 cSt is thick film, long-acting and high efficiency, and all scenarios are carried out around these three characteristics, different from the core uses of "dilution, thin coating and defoaming" of low and medium viscosity silicone oil; this viscosity grade also has the highest cost performance and the widest versatility among high-viscosity silicone oils. It can be used alone or compounded with emulsifiers/diluents/fillers to develop derivative products such as emulsified mold release agent, silicone grease and slip additive, suitable for various industrial fields and mid-to-high end civil scenarios.
